Rocky Thompson, Canadian ice hockey player and coach

Rocky Lee Thompson (born August 8, 1977) is a Canadian former ice hockey right wing, who last served as an associate coach with the San Jose Sharks of the NHL. He was drafted in the third round, 72nd overall, by the Calgary Flames in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft. This Cree forward/defenseman was born in Calgary, Alberta and raised in Whitecourt, Alberta. Along with hockey, he showed promise in boxing as a teenager, winning gold in the 1993 North American Indigenous Games as well as in provincial Golden Gloves tournament championships in Alberta and Saskatchewan.
