David Marshall, Singaporean lawyer and politician, 1st Chief Minister of Singapore (d. 1995)

David Saul Marshall (12 March 1908 – 12 December 1995), born David Saul Mashal, was a Singaporean politician and lawyer who served as the first Chief Minister of Singapore between 1955 and 1956. As the founder and president of the Labour Front, Marshall was instrumental in the negotiations that led to the home rule and eventual independence of Singapore from the United Kingdom. Marshall left Labour Front in 1957 and founded the Worker's Party (WP).
