Yvon Côté, Canadian teacher

Journey to the House of Commons
Côté's impactful, though relatively brief, tenure in the House of Commons of Canada began when he successfully contested the 1988 federal election. Representing the Richmond—Wolfe electoral district, he was elected as a member of the Progressive Conservative party. During his time in Ottawa, he actively participated in the proceedings of the 34th Canadian Parliament, contributing to the legislative process for five years. However, his parliamentary service concluded following the 1993 federal election, where voters in Richmond—Wolfe opted for a change. Côté was ultimately defeated by Gaston Leroux, a candidate from the newly prominent Bloc Québécois, marking the end of his time as an Member of Parliament.
