Lawren Harris, Canadian painter and educator (d. 1970)

Lawren Stewart Harris (October 23, 1885 – January 29, 1970) was a Canadian painter, best known as a leading member of the Group of Seven who asserted a distinct national identity combined with a common heritage stemming from early modernism in Europe in the early twentieth century. He played a key role in art in Canada, both as a catalyst and as a visionary of Canadian landscape art.
