World Teachers’ Day was instigated on the 5th of October, 1994, and has been observed annually since then. It celebrates the espousal of the UNESCO/ILO Recommendation regarding the Status of Teachers in 1966, which emphasizes the rights and responsibilities of teachers, and delineates the standards of recruitment, education policies, teaching and working conditions, and initial preparation of teachers. World Teachers’ Day endeavors to honor, appreciate, and ameliorate teachers and teaching around the world.
