Thābit ibn Qurra , médecin irakien, astronome et mathématicien (né en 826)
Al-Ṣābiʾ Thābit ibn Qurrah al-Ḥarrānī (arabe : ثابت بن قره, latin : Thebit/Thebith/Tebit ; 826 ou 836 - 18 février 901) était un mathématicien, médecin, astronome et traducteur arabe mésopotamien qui vivait à Bagdad en la seconde moitié du IXe siècle à l'époque du califat abbasside.
Thābit ibn Qurrah a fait d'importantes découvertes en algèbre, géométrie et astronomie. En astronomie, Thābit est considéré comme l'un des premiers réformateurs du système ptolémaïque, et en mécanique, il est l'un des fondateurs de la statique.
